"Where The Night Goes" is a series of three small-scale mixed media drawings that capture romanticised impressions of the colder months.
The series explores the intimate and seductive atmosphere that characterises the dark and short days of winter. The works themselves depict private moments; delicate whispers over candle-lit tables which evoke a sense of intimacy and connection, while the notion of vices given into during this time of year adds an intriguing layer of complexity to the narrative. The concept of offsetting the harshness of the day with a warming sip of liquor suggests a desire for comfort and escape during the wintery months.
The generous use of mixed media allows for a rich and complex viewing experience; different mediums and techniques are combined skilfully to convey the nuances of this romanticised winter world. Velvety lines of charcoal swirl on the page and thick strokes of oil bar and pastel are applied to reflect the indulgent nature of the season.
This series reflects not only on the external elements of winter but also the internal, emotional experiences associated with the colder months.
Overall, "Where The Night Goes" is an evocative exploration of the sensual and emotive aspects of winter, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the romanticised impressions of this particular time of year.

Series of mixed-media drawings celebrating the long-awaited summer of 2021.
After another year of restricted living, overshadowed by rules and fewer ways to find release from the daily grind, a simple thing like a meal shared with friends never felt so valuable.
This series celebrates the feeling of finally being able to begin to enjoy the little things in life again, using some of my favourite spots in Antwerp to dine at on a warm summer’s day as a starting point.
